"They both moved to Gisbourne. Fiona remembers clearly making friends with their Chinese gardner who lived in a shed on the property. The fine bone china Chinese teaset is a present he brought back after they (Haidee?) sponsored a trip home to China. The Gisbourne house burnt down, apparently because a servant left a candle burning. Fiona understands that if it wasn't for the house burning down and the need for moving and finding new accomodation, James and Haidee may have stayed together." Narrative

"A memorial plaque was laid in the Ruru Lawn Cemetery here in Christchurch. Kathryn and I tried to find it last year but has been grown over. I took a photo which I will copy for you." (Jill Arthur, 2007)
She thought that her family was generally rather poor in looking after her in her older years, something she reminded them of by giving the Governers Bay house to her boarder in Christchurch, John. (Fiona Keith-Kirk, December 2006)

Narrative

Horance Robinson was the executor of nana's will. As such he would normally have arranged a headstone for her. This didn't happen and eventually Jill arranged for a headstone. (Fiona Keith-Kirk, telephone, before 2008)
